LG CNS and D-Wave publicly announced a strategic relationship on October 28, 2026, at D-Wave’s Qubits Asia conference in Seoul, with the goal of accelerating quantum computing adoption for enterprise optimization, the company says. The companies intend to combine D-Wave’s annealing quantum computing technologies with LG CNS’s industry expertise, mathematical optimization capabilities and systems integration experience to develop applications for customers in manufacturing, telecommunications, finance and retail.
Hyun Shin-Gyoon, CEO of LG CNS, said that quantum technology must be supported by a deep understanding of industries and strong optimization capabilities to generate meaningful results in industrial settings, as the companies intend to move applications from proof of concept into production.
D-Wave and LG CNS Partnership for Quantum Optimization in South Korea
LG CNS plans to integrate D-Wave’s quantum computing technology into solutions for clients in manufacturing, telecommunications, finance and retail, representing a focused initial approach to application development. This partnership aims to move beyond theoretical exploration and deploy applications that deliver quantifiable improvements for businesses. LG CNS brings substantial expertise in mathematical optimization to the collaboration, with capabilities spanning problem definition, modeling, validation and real-world implementation across multiple sectors, according to the company.
The company has already conducted research applying these techniques, alongside quantum computing, to challenges like image reconstruction and underground anomaly detection. Optimization problems, which underpin decisions from factory scheduling to delivery route planning, become exponentially more difficult as complexity increases. D-Wave’s annealing technology is designed to tackle these challenges, and existing customers are already using hybrid-quantum applications in production environments.
The collaboration intends to extend this capability to LG CNS’s client base, enabling them to reduce costs, improve efficiency and respond more rapidly to changing market conditions. Dr. Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave, said that D-Wave’s annealing quantum computing technology is driving positive business outcomes for customers today.
He added that LG CNS understands both the optimization problems enterprises need to solve and the systems those solutions must work within, and by combining that expertise with their technology, they intend to help enterprises in South Korea and beyond move from evaluating quantum computing to deploying applications that deliver measurable business value, the firm reports. The companies also plan to pursue joint go-to-market opportunities, suggesting a broader strategy to expand the reach of quantum optimization solutions beyond initial pilot programs. This collaboration represents a step toward commercializing quantum computing services, connecting the technology to practical customer needs and supporting new business ventures.
